What Are Spicules?
Spicules are microscopic needle-like structures, derived from freshwater sponges. When applied topically spicules create microchannels in the Stratum Corneum without causing visible injury. Spicules also trigger a mild inflammatory response, which can stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture. Spicule treatment is also known as liquid microneedling or bio microneedling because the treatment has a very similar effect as microneedling treatment. Spicules, once applied in the skin, remain embedded in the skin for approximately 24 to 72 hours. During this time, they gradually break down through natural epidermal shedding and immune system response.
